Certification courses

Why get certified?

Being certified by an independent, reputable organization like PMI (Project Management Institute) is a mark of quality and, in many cases, a competitive advantage.

What sets us apart from other providers?

There are two ways of approaching an exam; memorizing the material and the other is to really understand the material.

Research and our experience tell us that merely memorizing the material will not guarantee success- unless you have a photographic memory! However, these exams usually test your comprehension of the material by asking a lot of situational questions. This is where we come in. Through our courses, we MAKE SURE that you comprehend the material. The knowledge you will gain will last beyond the exam, and beyond the exam, you will be able to apply this knowledge to your job.

Courses

•  Project Management Professional® Preparation Course

Our PMP® preparation course is for those who intend to take the PMP® certification exam. Being a PMP® is becoming more a requisite than an additional qualification. Our course is based on PMI's Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), but also includes other material relevant for the exam. We will also help you through the application process. (Click here for more information)

•  CAPM ®Preparation Course

If you don't have the number of years experience as a project manager as required by PMI in order to attain the PMP® credential, you can still gain accreditation from PMI. CAPM ® is the Certified Associate in Project Management. Contact us for information on the CAPM ® Prep course contact@ikompass.com

"The knowledge you will gain will last beyond the exam, and will be able to apply this knowledge to your job."

Interpersonal Skills Courses

Importance of Interpersonal Skills

While professional (hard) skills are definitely crucial in our individual application areas, interpersonal (soft) skills have universal applicability. These skills apply to every aspect of our lives. These skills are not just gaining ground in popularity, but are also becoming essential, in order to survive the increasingly competitive corporate area.

Courses

•  Negotiation Skills

Getting what we want is not an easy feat is it? Making sure both parties leave a discussion with a win-win solution is even harder. This course will equip you with those skills that will help you navigate through any discussion and attain your objectives.

•  Conflict Management

Conflicts, whether we like it or not, are a part of our lives. Conflicts can fall within a continuum ranging from a discussion to a heated exchange of words (or in some cases, fists!) Successfully learning to manage conflicts will help us in every part of our life. In our course, you will learn to identify situations of conflict, understand the cause of the conflict, and learn to use effective strategies to deal with any situation of conflict.

•  Assertiveness

Have you been in situations where you wish you had been more assertive, or less aggressive? This course will equip you to identify your style, and to be able to express yourself in a manner that is respectful to yourself and others.

•  Having difficult conversations

We have all been in those conversations where we first cringe at the thought of being in, and when we are, we can't' seem to get the best out of them. We eventually leave these discussions wishing the outcome had been different.

•  Dealing with bad news

It's universal. Our reaction to bad news is usually that driven by impulse. It's not just about our actions, more importantly, it's about what we feel and think. In our corporate lives, perception is king. We need to learn how to both- internally- process the news, and externally- respond effectively. In this course, you will learn to recognize our natural mode of response, and to deal with the news -  internally and externally.

•  Giving and receiving feedback

In our training courses, we have found that this particular area sparks a lot of interest and participation. The topic of feedback is usually under the radar, when compared to other human skills topics, but, interestingly, has turned out to be one of our more popular courses. Both facets of feedback- giving and taking, requires mutually independent skills. You will learn these skills in our course through theory and exercises.

•  Are you a manager or a leader

Many use the terms manager and leader interchangeably. This is not necessarily true. Each role carries with it different characteristics and functions. You can learn the differences between the two, and identify which is your natural role, and how you can imbibe qualities of both.

"These skills are not just gaining ground in popularity, but are also becoming essential, in order to survive the increasingly competitive corporate area."

•  Giving powerful presentations

In a survey conducted in the US, people rated fear of public speaking only after fear of dying! The fear related to giving presentations is associated to many areas- the pre-presentation anxiety, the delivery, the anxiety of keeping the audience interested, and so on. We arm you with techniques to battle these fears, and to convey your message verbally and through body language- powerfully.

•  Managing anxiety - understanding the flight or fight response

Anxiety is one of the most common emotions we have, and, contrary to popular belief, not always bad. The key to beating anxiety is understanding it. Our bodies give us clues which, if we learn to interpret and soothe, will significantly remove feelings of anxiety. Learn how to read these clues and apply techniques to calm yourself.

•  Organizing effective meetings

Ever been in meetings where you wonder what was achieved? Meetings can be a powerful tool if conducted effectively. Meeting management includes selection of participants, setting the agenda, opening and closing the meetings, time management and follow up. When mastered, these skills can result in tremendous results.

•  What is multiculturalism and how can I ace it

Sometimes multiculturalism is that white elephant in the room that no one wants to address! Well, not addressing it can be as damaging it as ineffectively dealing with it. Learn how to be able to ace in multicultural environments.

•  When we say more without saying anything ? Power of non-verbal communication

We all know the importance of the unspoken word. Do we use it to enhance our communication? Are we able to really understand the different levels of what is being communicated? Can we improve the way we engage with others by understanding this element?

•  Do others see me as I see myself ? Managing Perception

Have you ever read or heard feedback about yourself that took you by surprise? How well do you know yourself? Do you know how people see you? Would you like to learn how to project a desirable image?

•  Effective Listening

It's a myth that talking more gets us what we want. In most cases, less is more, i.e. less talking, more listening! Expressing our needs is only one part of communication. The other is understanding the others needs. Learn how to deepen your listening skills in order to get the most out of every relationship.

•  How can I manage my time better

How many times have you wished that the days had more hours? Well, unfortunately we can't fulfill that wish, but we can help you achieve more in the hours that you do have. The good news is that it can be done.

•  Saying 'NO'

Have you experienced situations where you've accepted tasks and have regretted that decision? Looking back, you ask yourself- 'why didn't I just say no?' That word is a very difficult one to say. The reasons behind that difficulty are many. But the fact is that the message can be conveyed without disrupting the relationship or offending the person. Learn this very useful skill, and see how different you feel.
